What makes a wild pirate party
Would you like to give your little one a pirate party? Then let the adventure begin. A pirate party is all about ships, cheeky pirates, adventure and treasure. Add fun songs and rustic food to the mix. A campfire with bread baked on sticks, for example, is a wonderful way to round off a pirate party.
And it’s not just children who enjoy slipping into the role of pirates. At a themed party, adults can leave everyday life behind for a few hours and simply enjoy their wild side.
What belongs in the decorations
Decorations and accessories are incredibly important for creating the right pirate atmosphere. What would a pirate party be without a colorful parrot, pirate ship, or crew monkey? And black flags bearing a skull flutter above it all.
Incorporate the atmosphere skillfully. Pirate flags on the door or walls immediately make it clear who is in charge—the captain. A pirate ship sails through the delicious buffet. A parrot and monkey guard the venue. And hidden in a treasure bag is the coveted treasure, which you can fight over with harmless boarding knives.
From the venue to the pirate costume
The decorations for the pirate party don’t stop there. The complete package is what creates the unique atmosphere that lets you immerse yourself in the world of pirates.
Venue and invitation
Your own garden is ideal, preferably with a pool, or a beach. Of course, you can also rent a room. Lots of wood creates the impression of a sailing ship. A beach bar is perfect for an adults-only party.
The invitation can show the theme right away. For example, you can invite guests to the pirate party with a treasure map or write the most important information for guests on the back of a pirate flag. It’s best if everyone arrives in a pirate costume. That way, they can experience the wildness and freedom of the buccaneers with all their senses.
Authentic pirate food
The food contributes to the atmosphere. Pirates ate fish and meat. Traditionally, they also ate hardtack, as pirates did on the open sea, or fried potatoes. Children can have fish fingers, while adults can enjoy salmon, herring, or whatever they like best. A herb sauce rounds off the feast.
Pirates enjoyed drinking rum. A small rum barrel will make the pirate party a real hit. If you like cocktails, piña colada is the perfect choice, as many pirates roamed the Caribbean.
The little pirates should not drink alcohol, of course. Homemade lemonade is perfect for them. It’s not only refreshing and delicious, but also contains lots of vitamins. In the 18th century, lemons became popular among pirates because they prevented scurvy, a disease caused by a vitamin deficiency. This way, the young pirates will stay lively right until the end of the party.
